Grid-Tied Solar Systems

The most common way to go solar.

A grid-tied system connects your home to the sun and the utility grid, so you generate your own clean energy and send the excess back for credit. SRsolarNH designs and installs custom grid-tied systems for homeowners across New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and beyond.

How We Do It

What You Get with Every Install

Custom System Design

Every grid-tied system is designed around your home’s energy usage, roof layout, and goals. We size your system to maximize what you produce and minimize what you pull from the grid.

Net Metering Setup

We handle the utility interconnection application and Net Metering enrollment so your system is set up to earn credits for every kilowatt-hour you send back to the grid.

Full Permitting and Paperwork

We handle the interconnection application, town permitting, and utility paperwork from start to finish.
Grid-Tied Solar Systems

Connected to the grid. Powered by the sun.

A grid-tied solar system works by connecting your solar panels directly to the utility grid. During the day, your panels generate electricity that powers your home first. Any excess energy your system produces gets sent back to the grid, and your utility company credits you for it through Net Metering. At night or on cloudy days, your home draws from the grid as usual.

It is the simplest, most cost-effective way to go solar. No batteries required. No complicated setup. Just a custom-designed system that starts generating clean energy from day one.

How Net Metering works:

Net Metering is a billing arrangement that credits solar homeowners for the excess electricity they generate and feed into the grid. When your system produces more than your home uses, your electric meter runs backward

Those credits offset the electricity you draw from the grid when your panels are not producing. The result is a lower monthly utility bill based on your net energy consumption over time.

Is a grid-tied system right for you?
A grid-tied system is the right choice if:
You want to reduce your dependence on the grid without disconnecting from it entirely
You want a straightforward, lower-cost solar installation
Your home has a suitable roof or property for a ground mount array
You are interested in adding battery backup in the future as an optional upgrade

If you want complete independence from the utility grid, an off-grid system may be a better fit. We install both and will help you decide which makes more sense for your property.
